Auditor


Function
The European Central Bank (ECB) is searching candidates to fill the position of financial auditor in the Audit Missions 1 Division of its Directorate Internal Audit (D/IA).
D/IA provides independent and objective assurance and consulting services under the direct responsibility of the ECB’s Executive Board.
The Audit Missions 1 Division is responsible for performing audit missions and providing consultancy services within the ECB. It also advises other business areas at the ECB on risk and control-related issues,  and  contributes  to  the  work  of  the  Internal  Auditors  Committee  (IAC)  and  its  related sub-structures.
The successful applicant will be part of a team responsible for performing audit missions in the areas of banking supervision and the financial activities of the ECB. This will involve, among other tasks, conducting risk assessments, preparing audit programmes, carrying out the required fieldwork and drafting audit reports. These tasks will require close collaboration with parties across the ECB, the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) and, potentially, the European System of Central Banks (ESCB).
Qualifications and experience
Applicants must have the following knowledge and competencies:
  • a master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. finance, business administration, financial economics or a related discipline), or a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field combined with at least three years of relevant professional experience;
  • a minimum of four years’ recent professional experience in auditing financial institutions or in banking supervision (a minimum of seven years in the case of a bachelor’s degree);
  • a sound knowledge of banking supervisory processes/activities, banking regulation and the European framework for banking supervision;
  • ideally, relevant professional qualifications (e.g. chartered accountant, certified internal auditor, chartered financial analyst, financial risk manager);
  • ideally, experience in performing and leading audit engagements in areas such as financial reporting,  risk  management,  compliance  with  regulatory  and  supervisory  requirements,  or capital adequacy;
  • a good understanding of IT business application controls would be an asset;
  • an advanced command of spoken and written English, as well as a proven ability to draft complex documentation clearly and concisely;
  • a good knowledge of at least one other official language of the European Union;
  • a good knowledge of MS Office, in particular Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.

Further Information
Three-year fixed-term contract, with possible conversion to a contract of indefinite duration subject to individual performance and organisational needs.
